Social Value Policy

Introduction

Almeda are committed to deliver social value, recognising our role as an employer and service provider to clients and stakeholders.  Our social value policy sets out our commitment towards measuring and managing the social value our company is creating within our local community. 

  • We will be accountable to our stakeholders and take responsibility for the roles we play in their lives.
  • To manage our activities to create the maximum social value possible.
  • To enable best practice as business.
  • To reduce assumptions about how our activities create value through outcomes to stakeholders.

The Social Value Act 2012 requires organisations and suppliers to look beyond the financial cost of a contract and consider economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the area and stakeholders to support new and innovative solutions to problems. 

Scope

This policy applies to our employees who undertake activity for and on behalf of Almeda and will be applied to all our activities. 

We recognise how we can increase our social value which will include (Social, Economic and Environmental):

Social
  • Increasing the knowledge and skills of our staff, offering training opportunities
  • Charity and community incentives through volunteering, community and charity initiatives
  • Supporting physical and mental health and wellbeing
  • As an equal opportunities employer (complying with the Equalities Act 2010) and offering fair treatment and no-discrimination for existing and future employees, supporting the attraction and retention of staff, understanding how equal employment opportunities underpins recruitment and management practices
Economic
  • Use of recruitment methods focused on promoting social inclusion and diversity from local communities
  • Offering work experience
  • Commitment to the Apprenticeship Scheme
Environmental
  • Reducing our carbon footprint
  • Promoting the use of local suppliers wherever possible
  • Utilising digital systems remove the reliance on paper-based working to save time, money and natural resources
  • Utilising conference facilities in place of travel to meetings
Queries and Updates

The Policy is maintained by Almeda’s Technical/QHSE team and will be publicised throughout the company on shared company folders.  It will be made available to external parties on request. 

This policy has been approved by Almeda’s Managing Director.

This policy will be updated annually; additionally, we may carry out additional updates from time to time; any material updates or changes to this Policy will be communicated.
